Powerpoint v's Prezi
Both these tools are fantastic. I do find myself using PowerPoint so much more than prezi. I find that PowerPoint is easier to use than prezi although I have had little experience with it because I found it difficult from the start. Both these tools are a great way to present topic information to students in a very engaging manner. During my prac I created a PowerPoint presentation for PE about nutrition. After some research I found a product on the Internet called presenter media. This product provides PowerPoint templates and animated pictures to add to your PowerPoint presentation. The students were very engaged in the material when there were animated characters doing funky things on the screen. As you can tell I would prefer PowerPoint over prezi.

ZooBurst
A fun tool that I will use in future lessons.
Glogster !!!
Glogster is a tool I have used in the past. This is a very engaging tool that you can add text, pictures and video with ease. There is many templates that are very easy to edit. This tool would be a fantastic assessment task, especially in the home ec environment as this tool encourages creativity. As a learning manager this tool would be very effective and engaging as a learning tool for a lesson presentation. During another uni subject adult and adolescent literacy and numeracy we were tasked to produce a resources to teach students the importance of literacy and numeracy. For this task I chose to make a glog using glogster. The link for this resources is
This tool is one that I have used in the past and will continue to use in the future.
I can BeFunky!!
This tool is exceptional. There are so many options for editing, adding effect to any photo. This tool would be a exceptional tool to use in home economics. Students could use this tool in blogs, presentations, or any other form where they require pictures. This tool is very multi-functional and is very engaging for students. Who doesn't love a photo editing tool? The effects that are offered through this tool are endless. This tool would be something that i could use as the;earning manager to put in powerpoints, prezis, glog, assessment task sheets or any other material need for lessons. Love, love , love this tool !!!!!!!!!!
Had so much fun with this tool
To blog or not to blog?
Blog Definitely!!!!
This is a fantastic tool for high school students. This
tool provides students with the opportunity to post comments about certain
topics and experiences. During EPL I was
given the task by the Lead Learning Manager to develop a piece of assessment
for the students in year 9 Home Economics class. The assessment I developed was
the students were to complete an individual cooking blog. As the learning
manager I then created a list of each students blog address and students could
comment on each other’s blogs. The
students were extremely excited about this assessment task.
The students were required to complete a Venn diagram
type activity in their blog, include a picture and self evaluate their
performance each week for the provided recipes. This structured type of blog
kept students on task as they had criteria to follow. This was very similar to
the wiki activity where it was structure and participants were kept focused on
the task.
Blogging allows students
to comment about their experiences. It
also provides and engaging way for students to reflect on their own personal
performances each week. During the
development of their blogs students were required to research other blogs to
get ideas how to set up their blog, this
was a great way to start which also helped me to gain a better understanding of
the blogging process. A great learning
curve for all. During this process it
was imperative that the students were advised of the safe practices for blogs
and the internet. They were also reminded
of the schools technology policies.
Here is a link to a student who recieved an A for her blog http://breakfastatmidnightt. tumblr.com
Happy blogging everyone !!!!!

The Wiki Activity
Wiki is something I have never heard of or used before.
Navigating the site was reasonably easy. Wiki is a great tool for collaborative
learning and encouraging a flipped classroom. This type of activity would be
very engaging for high school students. An ICT tool like this will engage
students and encourage participation. This is also a great tool to monitor
student participation. Although this is new and a little exciting for me I feel
there are some disadvantages to this tool. It is very easy to edit or delete
other comments. This way of posting unless structured like the six thinking
hats could become very messy and off task. Using the six thinking hats provided
structure and keeps their thoughts collected and on task. Wiki promotes a
combination of constructivism and connectivism. Constructivism is promoted by
relying on previous knowledge and understanding of a topic to comment and also
to comment on others comments. It also allows students to put forward their own
views and perceptions about a particular topic. Connectivism is promoted in
wiki's by collaborative learning. Students need to create and connect with Wiki
to provide feedback through collaborative learning with other students. Wiki's
will be a prevalent ICT tool in my future learning experiences.
